Why should I choose a Stove Service instead of a Chimney Sweep?
There are many advantages to having a full stove service over a standard chimney sweep.
Earlier this year we wrote about the importance of chimney sweeping, which can be found here: https://www.flamecraft.co.uk/why-are-chimney-sweeps-important
However if you own a wood burner you can do one better than a chimney sweep and get a full stove service.
Why should I upgrade?
Just like a car, a wood burner or multi fuel stove needs to be cared for and serviced to extend its lifetime. A full stove service includes both a chimney sweep and preventative maintenance.
What does the stove service include?
- A professional chimney sweep.
- A thorough inspection of the stove by a HETAS engineer to ensure the stove is in full working order.
- Emptying and vacuuming ash from the interior of the stove.
- Cleaning and buffing of stove glass.
- Full stove repaint and polish.
- Resealing
- Greasing of screws, bolts, hinges and handles.
- Certificate confirming the service has taken place (available as a PDF or printed).
- Replacement of parts if needed (parts and ropes not included).
Both our chimney sweeps and stove services come with the option to sign up to our Free Reminder Service where will will remind you before your next service is due.
New to owning a wood burner or multi fuel stove?
We strongly advise that you opt for a stove service instead of a chimney sweep for preventative maintenance. However in the first two years of owning a wood burner or multi fuel stove we stress the importance of a stove service even more. This is because if you are making any of the common mistakes that can damage the stove we will notice it during the service and advise you of how to avoid them to help prevent long term damage.
